Unfortunately, Jayden Daniels' sophomore season in the NFL has been plagued by injuries. The Heisman Trophy winning QB has already missed multiple games with different ailments, and is now slated to miss even more time after suffering another injury on Sunday night against the Seahawks.

Daniels' latest injury occured with the Commanders trailing 38-7 with under 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Daniels was sacked by Seattle's Drake Thomas, and was twisted to the ground in an awkward fashion. His left arm got caught on the ground behind him as he went down, resulting in a gruesome injury. Daniels required immediate medical attention on the field, and was seen walking to the locker room with a brace on his left arm.

National Insider for NFL Network Ian Rapoport has reported that Daniels suffered a dislocated elbow. Daniels is awaiting an MRI, but Rapoport says that that injury isn't as bad as it was feared to be. However, Daniels will be forced to miss multiple games.

But could this have been avoided? With the game so out of reach with little time left, why was Daniels even in the game? That is a question that fans and media members alike are wondering.

Dan Quinn's questionable move to keep Daniels in the game

The Commanders were trailing 38-7 with seven and a half minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. The end result was never in doubt, and not much good was going to come by keeping Daniels in the game. Unfortunately, Washington's worst case scenario happened when their franchise QB went down with a serious injury.

NFL on CBS analyst Damien Harris chimed in on the situation, calling it "malpractice" by Commanders head coach Dan Quinn. "This was malpractice by Dan Quinn. Jayden Daniels is your prized possession as a franchise. What's the point of having him in the game," said Harris.

What makes Quinn's decision to keep Daniels in the game even more mind-boggling is that Daniels has already missed several games this season. He missed Weeks 3 and 4 with a knee sprain and missed Week 8 with a hamstring injury. He battled back to play in Sunday's game against the Seahawks, but with the game so out of reach in the closing minutes, there was no need to keep him in the game.

Before suffering the injury, Daniels completed 16 of his 22 pass attempts for 153 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception. He ran for 51 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. On the season, Daniels has completed 62.5% of his passes for 1,184 yards and eight touchdowns with just two interceptions. He's also added 262 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

As fans wait for a more official timeline on Daniels' injury recovery, Marcus Mariota figures to take over was Washington's QB1. The Commanders are back in action this Sunday, Nov. 9 against the Lions.
