The Ole Miss offense is putting up some spectacular numbers so far this season. Lane Kiffin's squad ranks 10th in the country with 179 total points through four games, which equates to an average of 44.8 points per game. Trinidad Chambliss has filled in nicely for Austin Simmons, and could be turning into a star in Oxford. Both the running game and the passing game are clicking, which gives the LSU defense a lot to worry about. With that being said, LSU's revamped defense will be the best unit the Rebels have seen so far this season.
The Tiger defense could have one more thing to worry about, as one of Ole Miss' electric playmakers is on track to make his Rebel debut on Saturday afternoon. West Virginia transfer WR Traylon Ray has missed the first four games of the 2025 season with an injury, but he could be in line to suit up against the Tigers.
Traylon Ray on track to make Ole Miss debut against LSU
On Ole Miss' initial availability report for Week 5, Ray is officially listed as probable. He was making a strong impact in camp before going down with an undisclosed injury, and has been a limited participant in practice since August.
Ray spent the last two seasons with the West Virginia Mountaineers, and transferred to Ole Miss after totaling 46 catches for 747 yards and seven touchdowns in Morgantown. He appeared in 22 games and accumulated 14 starts with the Mountaineers. He also saw some action as a returner on special teams, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him in a similar role for Ole Miss.
It will be interesting to see where Ray fits in to a loaded Ole Miss WR room. The Rebels already have four receivers with 150+ yards and five with 100+ yards on the season. The ball gets spread around in the Ole Miss passing attack, which gives LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker a lot to prepare for.
The 2025 Magnolia Bowl between the Tigers and Rebels is scheduled to kick-off at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday afternoon at Ole Miss' Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. LSU owns the all-time series lead 66-43-4, which includes a 29-26 overtime victory in Baton Rouge last season.
