When a head coach is fired in the middle of the season, it is normal for that school to lose a lot of the recruits that committed to play for said head coach. For LSU, anyone that Brian Kelly brought in before being fired this past weekend is free game for any school to come in a flip.
Other recruits may decide to simply open their recruitment back up or de-commit altogether as the person they chose to play for is now gone. With Kelly gone, LSU could lose a lot of players, but for one elite commit, he is riding with LSU even harder now, and it has nothing to do with Kelly.
For four-star quarterback Peyton Houston, who is the No. 91 player in the Class of 2027 and the No. 8 quarterback in his class, has been committed to LSU since midway through September. That is an early commitment from a recruit in the Class of 2027, and even with Kelly being fired, he made it clear with a post on social media that he isn't going anywhere.

"The pride and tradition of the LSU Tigers won't be entrusted to the weak nor the timid," Houston wrote on a social media post.
He also had a hashtag towards the end of the post that said 'jobsnothfinished,' hinting that LSU is where he plans to stay. Now, this message seems a little cryptic. Was he not a Brian Kelly fan, or is he calling other recruits who are choosing to de-commit just because Kelly has been fired weak?
It feels like the latter is the more believable angle there. Houston has a point that just because a head coach is fired, it doesn't mean that LSU won't bring someone great in to replace him, and moving on from the program before it is announced just seems like the easy way out.
