As the College Baseball season approaches, the LSU Baseball team is having an award filled preseason. The Tigers were named the 2nd Ranked team by Perfect Game USA, LSU's Freshman Class was named the best in the Country, and 5 Sophomores were named Top-100 in their class. The latest buzz comes as LSU Baseball has five Tigers named to Perfect Games Top-100 Juniors List.
Daniel Dickinson was a massive piece in Jay Johnson's loaded transfer class this offseason after posting a .369 average at Utah Valley the last two seasons. The Tigers get a top of the lineup bat in Dickinson who Jay Johnson gave the Number 14 because of how he resembles Pete Rose.
Jacob Mayers transfers in from Nicholls State who will compete for a role in the rotation while he can also help out of the bullpen. Mayers was the best in the Southland Conference striking out 106 batters while posting a .165 opponent batting average.
Chase Shores returns from injury and debuts on the list as one of the top Juniors in College Baseball. As a Freshman Shores burst onto the scene appearing in 7 games including 4 weekend starts posting a 1.96 ERA in 18.1 innings pitched before suffering an injury which required Tommy John Surgery. Shores is now back in the mix for Jay Johnson and ready to assume a role as one of the top arms in the rotation.
Anthony Eyanson comes in as the crown of Jay Johnson's loaded transfer portal class out of UC San Diego. Eyanson had a breakout second season for UC San Diego becoming the team's Friday Starter and he instantly slots into LSU's rotation as a starter on the weekends. LSU had to battle it out with Tennessee to land the star starter and he'll now potentially lead the Tigers rotation.
Conner Ware joins the team as a piece that can help the bullpen transferring from Pearl River CC. Ware was excellent in relief last season, pitching 15.0 innings with 2 saves, 21 strikeouts, and a 1.80 ERA.
The biggest snub from this list however, is the fact that first baseman Jared "Bear" Jones is not included in Perfect Games Top 100. Last season, Jared Jones was incredible at the plate with a .301 batting average while blasting 28 home runs with 59 RBIs and 3 stolen bases.
