How disliked was Brian Kelly? Subtle shade from this holy place is a good indicator

Seems even those who are supposed to practice "love thy neighbor" weren't that fond of Brian Kelly

Now that he's been fired, the number of people and groups lining up for the punch-Brian-Kelly-in-the-gut farewell celebration has been staggering.

Former players, parents -- such as the late Kyren Lacy's father -- and multiple members of the media are all taking the gloves off and telling the world exactly what they think of the now-former LSU head coach. It seems Kelly made a lot of enemies who were just itching to unload on him.

But nothing could be more telling than someone representing an organization whose chief belief is "love thy neighbor". This Facebook post from Father Michael J. Alello of St. Aloysius Catholic Church may be the most revealing thing ever about how disliked Brian Kelly really was.

"As the sun sets on Day 1 following the firing of Brian Kelly, the excitement and anticipation are palpable. It feels like we’re in the midst of a conclave, gathering to choose our next leader! Names are swirling around like smoke from the Sistine Chapel. Who will emerge?", Father Alello writes in the post.

Kelly certainly wasn't viewed as a pontiff in Baton Rouge (even if he did clearly see himself that way) so that makes the subtle dig and image of the purple smoke emerging from the church's steeple even more hilarious.

Look, if you can't win over the Catholics as a football coach -- something Kelly has now failed at twice -- maybe it's time to stop looking for a new school and start looking for a new profession.

Peace be with you, Father Alello.
