Everyday is a recruiting day in Baton Rouge, and Monday started with some disappointing recruiting update for Lane Kiffin.
The LSU Tigers were in the driver's seat to land 5-star CB Joshua Dobson, until ON3's Steve Wiltfong's crystal ball prediction landed him in a completely different SEC powerhouse.
The early March crystal ball predictions from Wiltfong, along with Adam Gorney, Sam Spiegelman, and Chad Simmons, all predicted that LSU would land 2027 five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson.
On Monday, Wiltfong went back to his prediction and flipped it from LSU to Texas A&M.
LSU cannot afford losing Joshua Dobson to Texas A&M
Losing the No. 11 player overall in the Class of 2027 would translate to a major loss for Kiffin. LSU currently has zero corners committed for their Class of 2027.
Plus, LSU’s current corner room is top-heavy with guys who will be heading to the NFL. DJ Pickett and PJ Woodland will be draft-eligible juniors or seniors. If they play up to their 5-star billing, they won't be with Kiffin for the 2027 season. Veterans like Ja’Keem Jackson will have graduated.
This leaves the Tigers relying entirely on 2026 signees like Michael Turner and Aidan Anding with zero proven depth behind them.
That's exactly why losing Dobson to the Aggies is something Kiffin can't afford.
That said, the LSU staffers still have time to pull up every ace up their sleeve to convince the No. 1 player in North Carolina, and the No. 3 CB in the Class of 2027 to stay wioth the Tigers till he makes his decision.
It'll be a long, anticipating wait for LSU fans until then.
