The LSU Tigers are looking to end the 2025 season on a high note. It's been a bumpy ride in Baton Rouge this season, but the Tigers have a chance to move to 7-4 on the season on Saturday when they face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. Interim head coach Frank Wilson led LSU to a much-needed victory over Arkansas last week to get the Tigers to bowl eligibility. It's not where the program wanted to be at this point of the season, and while fans wait to see who Brian Kelly's replacement will be, LSU is looking to pickup a win in the final home game of the 2025 campaign.
Latest Lane Kiffin-Ed Orgeron update would be a dream come true for LSU fans
The LSU defense could be in line to get a big boost if star linebacker Whit Weeks is able to suit up against WKU. Weeks hasn't played since October 11 against South Carolina, but appears to be trending in the right direction to get back onto the field.
Whit Weeks injury update: Could the star LB suit up against WKU?
According to Wilson, Weeks is listed as "probable" for Saturday's tilt against the Hilltoppers. Weeks has missed four consecutive games with an ankle injury, but returned to the practice field this week. He did not practice on Thursday and continues to wear a walking boot as a precautionary measure, but Wilson said the star linebacker is not as sore.

“He’s had a good week of practice ushering in and out and popping around,” Wilson told the Baton Rouge Advocate earlier this week. “I thought he showed tremendous progress. He’s talking and feeling the right way. In what capacity and how much, I’m not sure, but right now, I would say he’s probable."
That is certainly a good sign for the Tigers, and LSU fans would love to see Weeks back on the field in the final home game of the 2025 season. On the season, Weeks has 13 solo tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack through six games. The LSU defense looks vastly different without him in the mix, so Tiger fans are eager to see his final status come Saturday.
On the offensive side, QB Garrett Nussmeier has been ruled out for Saturday's contest, meaning that backup QB Michael Van Buren will make his second consecutive start. The Mississippi State transfer threw for 221 yards and a touchdown in last week's 23-22 win over Arkansas. The Tigers are favored by 22 points over the Hilltoppers with kick-off set for 6:45 p.m. CT at Tiger Stadium.
