The NFL rumors surrounding new LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. just won't go away.
First, Weis' name was rumored to be involved in the New York Giants' coaching search. Weis said he wasn't interested and that he was fired up to join Lane Kiffin's staff at LSU.

In early January, Weis told On3's Chris Low that he didn't have interest in any NFL job at this point in time. However, earlier this week it was reported that Weis spoke to the Philadelphia Eagles about their offensive coordinator opening. Despite engaging in those conversations, Weis told the Eagles he would remain with LSU in 2026.
One would think that at some point the NFL rumors would die down for Weis. But that doesn't appear to be the case. Now, Weis is being named as a potential candidate for another NFL job.
Charlie Weis Jr. NFL rumors refuse to go away
According to Connor Hughes of SNYtv, Weis' name is garnering a lot of attention in relation to the Giants offensive coordinator job. Hughes doesn't go as far to say that Weis is the favorite, but states that Wies' name keeps popping up in league circles in relation to New York's search for a new OC.
Talking to sources around the NFL, the name garnering a lot of attention for the #Giants OC job (now that Todd Monken is the HC of the Browns) is Charlie Weis Jr. @JordanRaanan was on that one way back in Week 18.

Weis arrived at Ole Miss the same year as Jaxson Dart (2022)…
While Weis has stated that he is excited for his first season in Baton Rouge, this latest rumor has LSU fans sweating. As Hughes points out, taking the Giants OC job would reunite Weis with former Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart. Weis coached Dart for three seasons in Oxford, and his connection with the New York QB could make the job more appealing.
But LSU fans are hoping it's not enough to lure Weis away from Kiffin's inaugural staff in Baton Rouge. Weis has worked with Kiffin at multiple stops, and together they have developed some of the top offenses in college football over the last few years.
After working on the same staffs at Alabama (2015-16), Florida Atlantic (2018-19), and Ole Miss (2022-25), Kiffin brought Weis with him from Oxford to Baton Rouge to be his offensive coordinator in 2026. Kiffin and Weis' offensive schemes saw the Rebels lead the SEC in total offense in 2024 and 2025, and ranked among the highest-scoring teams in the country.
Kiffin's offensive mind would still give LSU fans plenty of confidence heading into the new season, but having Weis on board as the OC would be the ideal situation.
