Easton Royal is one of the most coveted prospects in the country for the 2027 recruiting class. The 5-star wide receiver is ranked as the No. 10 overall player and No. 3 wide receiver in the country by the 247Sports Composite, and given his Louisiana ties, many considered LSU as an ideal landing spot.

However, Royal handed LSU a tough recruiting loss back on November 29 when he committed to Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns. Despite that commitment, Lane Kiffin has LSU still firmly in the mix to flip Royal away from the Longhorns.
Several other SEC schools are also working to flip the highly-touted prospect, and the latest development in Royal's recruitment has the competition heating up even more.
Competition heating up as Easton Royal adds another SEC visit
Royal is in the process of setting his schedule of official visits for the spring. He is set to visit LSU the weekend of May 28-30, which gives Kiffin and company a great opportunity to stand out from the crowd. Royal is also slated to visit the Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators as well, and he recently added another visit to his upcoming tour.
According to Rivals, Royal will also visit the Ole Miss Rebels this spring. Pete Golding is entering his first full season at the helm of the Ole Miss program, and he has already brought in plenty of talent through both the high school ranks and the transfer portal.

Royal put together a monster junior season at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans. In total, he racked up 53 catches for 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns while showcasing his elite speed and playmaker ability.
Royal's verbal commitment to Texas came one day before Kiffin was hired at LSU. Since then, Kiffin has changed the vibe in Baton Rouge by bringing in 14 players during the Early Signing Period and signing the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country.
Royal seems to have a strong relationship with Kiffin and multiple LSU players. Earlier this month, Royal went through a workout with Tiger sophomore running back Harlem Berry and incoming wide receiver Jabari Mack.
Given Kiffin's recruiting prowess and Royal's Louisiana ties, LSU figures to remain in the mix to flip the 5-star receiver away from Texas until the very end. It won't be easy, but Tiger fans are hoping Kiffin can get the job done.
