Head coach Jay Johnson has already led LSU to a pair of titles in 2023 and 2025, and he has constructed another elite roster for 2026. A total of 19 players return from last year's National Championship team, including several key pieces such as SS Steven Milam, SP Casan Evans, OF Derek Curiel, OF Jake Brown, and RP Gavin Guidry. That kind of returning experience, along with plenty of talented transfers and incoming freshmen, makes LSU a force to be reckoned with once again this season - and oddsmakers agree.

LSU boasts best National Championship odds for 2026

Professional oddsmakers have plenty of confidence in LSU this season. With odds of +700, LSU has the best odds to win the 2026 National Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook. LSU is the only team with odds less than +1000, as Arkansas has the second-best odds at +1100. UCLA (+1200), Georgia (+1400), and Texas (+1500) round out the top-5.

LSU has received plenty of preseason hype over the last month. The Tigers were picked to win the league by the SEC's 16 head coaches in the Coaches Preseason Poll. The league's head coaches also selected Derek Curiel, Casan Evans and Zac Cowan to the Preseason All-SEC First Team, as well as Steven Milam and Jake Brown to the Second-Team.

Furthermore, LSU has been ranked No. 1 in the country in the USA Today Baseball Coaches Preseason Poll, No. 1 by Perfect Game, No. 2 by D1 Baseball and No. 2 by Baseball America in their respective preseason polls.

All of these preseason accolades have LSU entering 2026 with plenty of expectations. LSU has arguably the best roster in the country, and figures to have a great opportunity to claim the 9th National Championship in program history.
