It has been quite the Saturday for the LSU Football team on the transfer portal recruiting trail. LSU filled one need early on in the day officially wrapping up the recruitment of Florida Cornerback Ja'Keem Jackson, LSU then did the same with Kentucky Wide Receiver Barion Brown filling a second hole. Now, LSU has filled a third need in one day and their fourth of the cycle by landing Nebraska Edge Rusher Jimari Butler.

The Tigers had a hole at edge rusher losing Bradyn Swinson and Sai'Vion Jones who are out of eligibility and Da'Shawn Womack who transferred to Ole Miss.

Butler was one of the first transfers to name LSU as a finalist but, the expectation was that he was going to follow his defensive coordinator who took the job at Florida State. LSU now lands an edge rusher with two seasons of experience to a younger edge rush room.

This season was a down year for Butler who recorded 22 tackles and 2 sacks a year after racking up 34 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Under Kevin Peoples, Butler may be able to develop to the best of his ability. When it comes to edge rush evaluations, Kevin Peoples is the best and if he sees something in a player, everyone should take note.

The Tigers came into this offseason declaring they'd be aggressive in the transfer portal but, we all wanted to see it happen. We're less than a week into the transfer cycle but, LSU has already landed Bauer Sharp, Barion Brown, Ja'Keem Jackson, and Jimari Butler. The Tigers are still heavily in the mix for a few massive transfers and it's becoming clear that LSU is all in on the NIL front.
