The LSU Football program is picking up steam on the recruiting trail while filling some of its biggest holes. The Tigers kicked things off by landing Oklahoma tight end Bauer Sharp to partially fill one need. The Tigers have now knocked off a second need landing Kentucky Wide Receiver Barion Brown filling the void at wide receiver.

According to On3's Industry Transfer rankings, Barion Brown is the 9th ranked player in the transfer portal and the 5th ranked wide receiver.

What jumps off the tape when you watch Brown it's his talent as a route runner, his elite speed, and his ability to start stop and start again which makes him elite with the ball in his hands.

This season has been a down year for Brown as he has just 29 catches for361 yards and three touchdowns but, he hasn't had the best quarterback play over the past two seasons. To put it in perspective, Barion Brown accounted for 16.28% of Kentucky's passing offense, Aaron Anderson accounted for 20.72% of LSU's.

The wide receiver core now has three players that can do a little bit of everything in Aaron Anderson, Barion Brown, and Zavion Thomas. They have two deep threats in Chris Hilton and Jelani Watkins. The only thing the Tigers are missing is that big bodied receiver you can put on the outside and that can be Trey'Dez Green or Nic Anderson from Oklahoma who will visit LSU.

Brown has chipped in as a rusher as well picking up 195 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries over the past three seasons.

One of Brown's many abilities is his elite ability as a kick returner, whoever takes over the job as special teams coordinator will have three home run threats in Brown, Zavion Thomas, and Aaron Anderson to return kicks which will make for exciting plays every time the ball is kicked. Over three seasons, Brown has accounted for 1,465 yards and 5 touchdowns on 51 kick returns.

Our counterparts covering Kentucky on Wildcat Blue Nation had the following to say about Brown when he entered the transfer portal.

"Barion Brown burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2022, showcasing electric speed and playmaking ability. Over three seasons, he accumulated 122 receptions for 1,528 yards and 11 touchdowns, with a career-long catch of 70 yards. His consistency as a deep threat and ability to stretch defenses made him one of the Wildcats’ most valuable offensive weapons."

Brian Kelly said that LSU was going to be aggressive in the transfer portal and thus far they've proven it. LSU has been linked so several top players at each position of need as LSU looks to reload for a Playoff push in 2025. The Tigers still have several transfer recruitments to close out but, thus far Kelly and his staff have kept their word.
