Over the last month, the NFL rumors surrounding new LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. have left Tiger fans holding their breath. Weis is a key piece of Lane Kiffin's first staff in Baton Rouge, as he has emerged into one of the brightest offensive minds in college football. Together, Weis and Kiffin built the Ole Miss offense into one of the most dangerous units in the country over the last few seasons, and LSU fans are eager to see what the duo can do in Baton Rouge.

Weis has been linked to jobs with both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, with the Giants turning up the heat in pursuit of Weis over the last week. In early January, Weis told On3's Chris Low that he didn't have interest in any NFL job at this point in his career, but he still spoke with the Giants about their offensive coordinator job last week.

But now, LSU fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the Giants have named their new offensive coordinator - and it's not Weis.

On Tuesday, Adam Schefter reported that the Giants are hiring Matt Nagy as their offensive coordinator for 2026. The move means that Weis is firmly committed to LSU for the upcoming season.

Last week, it was reported that Jaxson Dart was lobbying for Weis to get the Giants OC job. Weis coached Dart for all three of his seasons at Ole Miss, and helped develop him into a First Round talent. The potential to reunite with Dart in New York certainly had its appeals, and the Giants had a strong desire to make it a reality.

Dart spoke very highly of Weis, and tried his best to get him to New York. But ultimately, Weis didn't want to leave LSU.

Weis' desire to stay at LSU has Tiger fans fired up. After a frustrating season on the offensive side of the ball, the Tiger fan base is ready to see their team light up the scoreboard.

This past season, LSU finished dead last in the SEC in total yards per game (333.5), and 14th in points per game (22.8). They also never scored more than 25 points in a game against an FBS opponent during the regular season. Together, Kiffin and Weis are hoping to turn things around in a major way.
