LSU Football fans waste no time showing excitement for upcoming Texas Bowl

After defeating the Baylor Bears in last year's Texas Bowl by a score of 44-31, the LSU Tigers are set to compete in the Texas Bowl once again. This time, the Tigers will battle the Houston Cougars on December 27 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

It's not the bowl game that LSU fans envisioned the Tigers would be in when the season began, but that doens't mean Tiger fans have stopped caring. LSU's ticket allotment for the Texas Bowl has already sold out, showing that no matter the circumstances, the Tiger faithful are going to show up to support their team.

Fans eager for LSU's Texas Bowl matchup vs Houston

Plenty of LSU fans occupy the Houston area, and NRG Stadium is about a four hour drive from Baton Rouge. Those logistical advantages helped LSU reach their allotment of tickets at a rapid pace, but Lane Kiffin's hiring also has the Tiger fan base fired up for the future of the LSU Football program.

The Brian Kelly era in Baton Rouge ended as a massive disappointment, as he ended his LSU tenure without ever taking the Tigers to the College Football Playoff. LSU hasn't been to the CFP since its historic 2019 National Championship season, and Tiger fans are hungry to complete for another national title with Kiffin at the helm of the program.

Kiffin is officially on board, but he won't be coaching the Tigers against Houston in the Texas Bowl. Interim head coach Frank Wilson will lead the team for his final game of the season, and his future remains in question. Bringing him back seems to be an advantageous move for Kiffin, but other schools are reportedly interested in bringing Wilson on board as well.

As it stands, the Tigers are 3-point underdogs against the Cougars, who finished the season 4th in the Big 12 standings with a 9-3 record. Kick-off is set for 8:15 p.m CT on Saturday, December 27.
