LSU secured its next Trey'Dez Green in 5-star commit Ahmad Hudson after a year and a half of being locked in a dogfight with Nebraska.

Hudson, the No. 1 TE in the Class of 2027 and the No. 4 player out of LSU, announced his commitment this Sunday.

When the Cornhuskers extended an offer to Hudson early in 2025 and hosted him for four separate visits, every prediction had Nebraska firmly in the driver’s seat for the 5-star. It went as far as Hudson playing 7-on-7 with Nebraska’s 2027 QB commit, Trae Taylor.

And not just football, Husker basketball's Fred Hoiberg was also heavily involved, selling Hudson on being the centerpiece of a Nebraska basketball program coming off a Sweet 16 run. It was a done deal until Kiffin stepped in as LSU's new head coach.

From then, Kiffin didn't just convince Hudson to flip his commitment, but did that so well that his pushed his recruitment announcement from July to May 1.

Ahmad Hudson reveals Lane Kiffin's game

In his previous interview with Rivals, Hudson revealed how it was all Kiffin's doing.

“When you speak to a head coach, it shows how much they care about you,” Hudson told Rivals.

“Coach Kiffin was texting me before the state championship game, wishing me good luck. Not a lot of people like that have the time to really do that, so that shows that he took time out of his busy day as the head coach of Louisiana State University to wish me good luck. It’s just different.”

In other words, checkmated Rhule right at the finish line.

Not to forget he had the home advantage playing in his favor, plus the early vision that Will Wade is trying to sell on the hardwood side of the ball. Hudson entirely bought into it.

“They made a great impression, per usual,” Hudson said. “Really, just the communication skills have picked up a lot lately. Talking to some important people like Coach Weis and Coach Kiffin every other day has really helped a lot … They just picked up the pace like they needed to, and they’re sitting in a really good spot.”

“Whoever gets me will get the Ahmad the world has yet to see,” Hudson had promised then.

Now, LSU waits to see that version of TE as Green's successor.
