LSU's Bowl Game will be a showcase for Tight End Trey'Dez Green
The NFL Draft and the Transfer Portal have started to shape what LSU's roster will look like in 2025. Mason Taylor and Will Campbell have declared for the NFL Draft while LSU has lost just over a dozen players to the Transfer Portal. The Bowl Game often serves as a great chance to get the younger players playing time which helps a ton with knowing where the roster stands heading into the next season.
One position where LSU will be a little thin heading into the Bowl Game is at tight end. Mason Taylor declared for the NFL Draft while Ka'Morreun Pimpton entered the transfer portal. When paired with the fact that Mac Markway transferred before the season, LSU is left with just freshman Trey'Dez Green when it comes to scholarship tight ends.
While LSU won't have the bodies at tight end the Tigers typically have, the game gives LSU a great chance to see what Green can do in a full games worth of playing time. For the most part, LSU has used Green as a receiver especially when Brian Kelly said earlier in the season that that's where he played best.
Going into the Transfer Portal, LSU will be looking for an in-line tight end that can help replace everything Mason Taylor was able to do as a blocker. In this game, LSU will have no choice but, to deploy Green in Taylor's role which will certainly help in his development while also giving the Coaching staff an idea of his full ability.
On the season, Trey'Dez Green has caught 7 passes for 48 yards and a pair of touchdowns, we should see him exceed those numbers in the Texas Bowl alone.
Green will play a massive role for LSU next season as he has everything it takes to be an elite tight end or wide receiver wherever LSU settles on playing him. If Garrett Nussmeier is returning for the 2025 season, this will give the duo a great chance to build chemistry. The Texas Bowl can be the Trey'Dez Green Show and we're all hoping he can seize the opportunity.
