LSU secures multi-day visit with 4-star WR as SEC recruiting battle heats up

Lane Kiffin and LSU are looking to stand out from the crowd in their pursuit of 2027 4-star WR Amare Patterson.

After signing 14 players during the Early Signing Period and bringing in the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country, Lane Kiffin has revamped LSU's roster for 2026. The moves have Tiger fans fired up to see what Kiffin can do in Year 1 of his tenure in Baton Rouge.

LSU makes it case for 5-star point guard in latest recruiting development

As Kiffin continues to build LSU's roster for 2026 and beyond, he is staying busy on the recruiting trail. One player Kiffin has his eyes on is 4-star WR Amare Patterson, who checks in as a top-50 wide receiver in the country. As Patterson's recruiting battle heats up, LSU has secured an official visit from the dynamic playmaker.

On Monday night, Patterson took to social media to show some love to LSU and broadcast the details of his upcoming visit to Baton Rouge. As he continues evaluating contenders for his services, Patterson's official visit to LSU will take place from May 29-31.

Kiffin extended an offer to Patterson last month on January 11. Along with LSU, the 4-star wideout has received offers from several other SEC schools including Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Kentucky. Prior to his LSU visit, Patterson will take an official visit to Athens with the Georgia Bulldogs from May 15-17. He's also locked in an official visit to Florida from June 11-13.

Owning a 6'0" 180-pound frame, Patterson is described by 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins as a "yards after catch monster with a powerful build that gets into the end zone." Patterson's breakout junior campaign saw him rack up 51 catches for 912 yards and 10 touchdowns over the course of 11 games. He was also an effective rusher, totaling 136 yards on 11 carries.

The last weekend of May is shaping up to be a monster recruiting weekend for LSU, as No. 1 WR Easton Royal is also slated to be in Baton Rouge. Royal is currently committed to Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns, but it's clear that Kiffin and the Tigers are putting the pressure on the Longhorns.

LSU's 2027 recruiting class currently features two players: 4-star EDGE Jaiden Bryant and 4-star QB Peyton Houston.
