No one and we mean no one should be surprised by this. It's been a mess for LSU football since Sunday, as Brian Kelly was fired and he's not the only one who is no longer going to be in Baton Rouge for the long haul. Yup, you can add Scott Woodward to the list.
Another coach linked to LSU says there's no chance he's leaving his current team
On Thursday night, breaking news came in via Pete Nakos that the university and Woodward have decided to 'part ways' and that LSU executive deputy athletics director Verge Ausberry is going to take over in an interim role. Nothing but chaos and drama has surrounded LSU in the past week, with the latest update on Woodward somehow making things more eye-opening:

Scott Woodward is reportedly out as athletic director at LSU
So, LSU is now getting ready to hire a new athletic director, president AND head coach? Changes are coming for the Tigers and everyone is hoping it leads to the football program getting back to a championship level - it wasn't that long ago in 2019 that the Tigers won the natty.
Also, think Jeff Landry had anything to do with Woodward getting sent packing? The Louisiana Governor has been bashing the now former LSU AD for the past few days, taking things as far as saying he'll have nothing to do with the new HC hire for the university. We now know that's for sure, as Woodward is cleaning out his office and likely saying some final goodbyes across town.
While it's always big when this kind of news drops, it indeed felt like it was coming sooner rather than later. There's no way Woodward saw all the hate he was getting from Landry and others and was going to be motivated to come to work each day. Was he at fault for Kelly and his massive buyout? Sure, but there are other positives across athletics people still like to focus on.
Despite that, Woodward is no longer the main guy running the show and the search for his replacement will need to come fast - whoever lands that job needs to have a big say in making a new football coach hire. Hopefully LSU brings in someone who's best friends with Lane Kiffin (we kid).
