The recruiting dead period has come to a close and this weekend programs will start to host elite recruits on visits once again. The LSU Football team has already kicked off an exciting weekend hiring LSU legend Kyle Williams as the defensive line coach, and when Saturday arrives for the opening spring practice this weekend, there will be excitement on the recruiting trail.
The Tigers are set to host loaded group of recruits this weekend as a massive kickoff to a new recruting period. The most high profile recruit that will be on campus this weekend is elite wide receiver recruit Jase Mathews who's taking an unofficial visit to LSU.
On3 ranks Jase Mathews as the 26th ranked player in the class, the 3rd ranked wide receiver, and the 2nd ranked player out of Mississippi. LSU will look to impress enough to land an official visit as the Tigers aren't one of the four teams getting an official visit.
Jase Mathews has all the physical and athletic tools to become a potential number one option out wide at the next level.

LSU already has two great wide receivers on board with elite In-State four star wide receivers Kenny Darby and Jakai Anderson. The rest of the offseason will be exciting to follow as LSU recruits receivers as they'll get five-star Tristen Keys, four-star Boobie Feaster, In-State four-star Jabari Mack, and several other elite wide receivers on campus for visits.
This Winter LSU Wide Receivers Coach Cortez Hankton made the trip to Mississippi to visit Mathews as his recruitment picks up.

This is a massive recruiting cycle for wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton as he'll be expected to bring in a massive class. Last recruiting cycle saw LSU only sign two wide receivers with both coming from Louisiana. The Tigers have made strong pushes for the elite out of state recruits but, haven't had the success getting them to campus.
