This weekend was a busy weekend in Baton Rouge as the LSU Tigers were in action on the diamond, while the NFL Draft saw several LSU Tigers take the next step, making their way into the NFL. The LSU Baseball team got a massive weekend series win over Tennessee while the softball team plays a rubber match against Florida on Monday. While the football program was focused on the draft, the LSU Tigers lost defensive tackle Dilan Battle to the transfer portal but, added a star in his place.
Leaving a hectic weekend, here are the biggest LSU Tigers stories out of Baton Rouge.
LSU Baseball picks up crucial series win over Tennessee
This weekend was a massive test for the LSU Baseball team as the Tigers played host to the Tennessee Volunteers. After dropping their first mid-week game of the year, there was some concern heading into the weekend. The LSU Tigers answered the bell winning a thriller on Friday on a walk-off by Jared Jones and mercy ruling Tennessee on Sunday afternoon.

It wasn't the most impressive showing by the Tigers, as the offense struggled for the most part during the first two games, but the offense clicked on Sunday when the Tigers needed to close out this series. Given how hectic this week was with several of the teams ranked ahead of LSU losing their weekend series' LSU should return to the top 5 and could rise as high as the top 3.
LSU Football has 7 players drafted including a first round pick
The NFL Draft took place this weekend, and it was business as usual for the LSU Tigers with 7 players selected. New England took Will Campbell with the 4th overall pick, giving LSU another 1st round pick, and on Day 3 of the draft, they circled back to take Bradyn Swinson. The Jets landed a star picking Mason Taylor in the 2nd round. The Ravens double-dipped on LSU Tigers as well, picking Emery Jones in the 3rd round and Garrett Dellinger in the 7th round. Sai'Vion Jones landed with the Denver Broncos at the end of the 3rd round, and the Detroit Lions were able to get a steal landing Miles Frazier.
Several LSU Tigers sign Undrafted Free Agent deals following the NFL Draft
While every player doesn't get drafted, a ton of players are able to prove NFL teams wrong by signing as undrafted free agents. The following LSU Tigers signed UDFA contracts which will give them a chance to make their way into the NFL by earning a full-time roster spot with a solid showing during training camp.
- Zy Alexander - Seattle Seahawks
- Gio Paez - Chicago Bears
- Major Burns - Chicago Bears
- Josh Williams - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Paris Shand - Buffalo Bills
LSU adds transfer defensive tackle Bernard Gooden
During the spring transfer portal cycle last season, the LSU Football team tried to land an SEC-caliber defensive tackle but, ultimately the Tigers weren't able to make the splash addition. As LSU fans saw during the Winter transfer window, the Tigers aren't holding back on anything as they went out and landed the top defensive tackle in the transfer portal in Bernard Gooden. Landing Gooden gives LSU a massive piece on the defensive line giving the Tigers another piece to work with as the younger players develop.
A little added context on LSU's addition of Bernard Gooden per @mzenitz

"One Power Four general manager went as far recently as saying he believes that Gooden has the talent to potentially go in the first few rounds of next year's NFL draft."#LSU https://t.co/1hcOCr1fuR
Kyren Lacy is officially laid to rest
On Saturday, the day where Kyren Lacy likely would've heard his name called as an NFL Draft pick, his friends and family gathered to say goodbye to their friend and loved one who was gone far too soon. Lacy's former and current LSU teammates made the trip along with Brian Kelly who gave a tear jerking speech about what Lacy meant to him.
