Heading into Week 17 there was one record LSU was eyeing and that was the record for the most receiving yards in a single season by a College. On Sunday, LSU's wide receivers needed just 178 yards to break the record a feat Malik Nabers nearly did by himself. Week 17 saw a few LSU Tigers punch their tickets to the Playoffs while several others broke records.
On Sunday Night Football, Jayden Daniels punched the Washington Commanders ticket to the Playoffs and likely clinched the Rookie of the Year race. Daniels led the Commanders on a game winning drive in overtime firing a strike to Zach Ertz. Daniels finished the game completing 24 of 36 passes for 227 yards with 3 touchdowns and an interception. On the ground, Daniels picked up 127 yards which helped Daniels in passing Robert Griffin III for the most rushing yards by a rookie.
Malik Nabers entered Sunday needing 31 yards to cross the 1,000 yard mark as a Rookie, on his first play Nabers picked up the 31 yards while also making his way to the endzone for his 5th touchdown on the year.
Nabers then caught his 100th pass of the season on another incredible play before scoring the game winning touchdown on a 59 yard catch and run where Nabers showed the best of his ability after the catch. Nabers finished the game with 7 catches for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns helping the Giants in winning their first home game of the season.
The Raiders picked up a win over the Saints in part thanks to a few LSU Tigers starting with K'Lavon Chaisson who recorded 3 tackles and a sack. Terrace Marshall Jr continues to see his playing time increase for the Raiders and he rewarded them with a 28 yard reception in the game.
On the other side of the matchup, Clyde Edwards-Helaire made his season debut for the Saints with 5 carries for 20 yards adding another 10 yards on two receptions. Tyrann Mathieu recorded 3 tackles and a pass deflection in a losing effort. Foster Moreau scored the lone touchdown on the day for the Saints catching 3 passes for 47 yards.
Brian Thomas Jr continues to look like the best wide receiver in the draft class as he put up yet another massive performance catching 7 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown helping the Jaguars in picking up a win over the Titans. Since 2000, only three wide receivers have posted seasons with 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns as Rookies, the three are all LSU Tigers in Odell Beckham Jr, Ja'Marr Chase, and Brian Thomas Jr.
Arden Key finished the game with 5 tackles while Maason Smith recorded two tackles and another sack as he continues to improve down the stretch of the season.
While the Browns don't have anything to play for, Grant Delpit continues to make a massive impact recording 9 tackles, a tackle for a loss, and a quarterback hit.
Justin Jefferson put up yet another impressive stat line on Sunday catching 8 passes for 92 yards helping Minnesota stay alive in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC. If Jefferson can pick up 21 yards next season, he'd post his third season with 1,500 or more yards joining Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, and Andre Johnson.
On Saturday Night, the Cincinnati Bengals kept their Playoff hopes alive as Joe Burrow threw a game winning touchdown in overtime. Burrow completed 39 of 49 attempts for 412 yards and 3 touchdowns adding another 25 yards and a score with his legs. Ja'Marr Chase continues to hold the league lead in receptions, yards, and touchdowns adding another 9 catches for 102 yards to his season totals. For the Bengals to make the Playoffs they'll need to win and they'll need the Dolphins and Broncos to lose in Week 18. Given how the Bengals offense is playing, it would be incredible to watch the Bengals as their offense is good enough to beat anyone.
