The Early Signing Period is right around the corner opening on December 4th and lasting through December 6th. Most of the Nation's top recruits will sign early making it a sprint to the finish line as schools try to keep their classes intact while attempting to flip a few recruits.

As we reach the end of this recruiting Cycle, On3 released their final recruiting rankings with their full 25 five star recruits.

The recruit making the jump to five-star status for LSU is cornerback commit Kade Phillips as he's now the 23rd ranked player in the class. Prior to this update, Phillips was On3's 54th ranked player, 7th ranked cornerback, and the 15th ranked player from Texas. When LSU first flipped Phillips he was On3's 65th ranked recruit so this is a massive win for LSU and a great pull by Corey Raymond. In his first recruiting cycle back at LSU Corey Raymond has landed two five-star corners which will go a long way toward rebuilding DBU.

Harlem Berry remained a 5-star recruit but, he actually fell one spot from the 17th ranked player to the 18th ranked player in the country. Berry will have a great chance to come in on day one and make a massive impact like we've seen with Caden Durham especially if he enrolls early.

LSU's Top Cornerback recruit DJ Pickett fell to the 6th ranked recruit in the Nation but, he remains the top defensive back in the class. Holding onto DJ Pickett may be tough these next few weeks but, if LSU is able to sign DJ Pickett they'll land two elite cornerbacks that can change this defense from the moment they step on campus.

Closing out the cycle, Bryce Underwood once again held onto his crown as the Nation's top overall recruit. A ton of the issues that LSU's offense has had can be masked by Bryce Underwood's ability to run and throw the deep ball as he's the special type of quarterback that could lead LSU to a National Championship.

If LSU is able to win the commitment of Edna Karr defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart, they'll land a 5th five-star recruit as Stewart is ranked as the 25th best player in the class.

Bridging the talent gap in the SEC

When LSU faced off against Alabama it was clear that LSU is still missing some of those elite players in some key positions. Landing two five star cornerbacks helps slow the high powered offenses in the SEC allowing LSU to play more man coverage. Landing an elite running back in Harlem Berry can only help LSU in fixing its running game which has been an issue. Signing Bryce Underwood gives LSU the dual threat quarterback that this scheme needs to be successful.
