The 2024 LSU Baseball season was a disappointment and Jay Johnson would be the first to admit it. The Tigers stumbled out of the gate but, came on strong towards the end of the season making a run to the SEC Tournament Championship and to the Chapel Hill Regional Final.

This offseason Jay Johnson did see a ton of talent depart as Tommy White, Griffin Herring, Gage Jump, and Luke Holman all were drafted early on in the MLB Draft while losing other key pieces being selected later in the draft or entering the transfer portal.

The team on paper was going to be pretty solid with Steven Milam, Jared Jones, and Ashton Larson returning among others.

Being pretty solid wasn't good enough for Jay Johnson and he went out and made this team a force to be reckoned with. Prior to the draft, Jay Johnson shocked many by getting outfielder Derek Curiel to report to campus rather than being an early draft pick. Jay Johnson then shocked the world on Draft night getting projected first-round pick William Schmidt onto campus followed by catcher Cade Arrambide a projected day two pick.

It's hard to put into words how talented this trio is but, being three of Perfect Game's top five in the top 25 freshmen to make it to campus is pretty impressive.

After losing some of the Nation's top pitchers to the MLB Draft, Jay Johnson searched the country for the best pitchers available and he came back with an impressive crop of pitchers. According to D1 Baseball, LSU's six transfer pitchers all land in the top 85 of the Top Impact Transfer Pitchers list. The biggest name on the list is transfer Anthony Eyanson who could very well play his way into being a first round pick.

Everything is shaping up for an exciting Spring

Last season had it's moments as the start of the season was less than ideal for the LSU Baseball team as they found their rhythm. This team will be filled with newcomers so that could be the case again in 2025 but, the talent on this team is top to bottom better than nearly every team in the Country. If this team starts slow, it'll be dropping a game here and there rather than losing Series to start the season but, this team is eyeing yet another run to Omaha.
