The first half of the LSU Football game against UCLA wasn't pretty as the Bruins tied the game going into half time as massive underdogs. The Tigers found their grove in the second half and outscored UCLA 17-0. Overall, it wasn't exactly the best performance from the Tigers but, they still won by three possessions against a Big Ten team.

The Coaches across College Football were impressed with the win and as a result the Tigers moved up three places in the US LBM Coaches poll.

The Tigers are now the 13th ranked team according to the Coaches Poll which would put them two spots outside of the College Football Playoff as a Group of Five team gets an automatic bid. The LSU Football team moves ahead of Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and the USC Trojans in the Coaches Poll.

Now there are certainly some head scratchers with how the LSU Football team is ranked in the poll. For starters, its surprising that LSU is ranked three spots higher than the USC Trojans as we saw these teams matchup in week one where LSU lost.

The good news for the LSU Football team is that they'll still face 4th ranked Alabama, 5th ranked Ole Miss, 18th ranked Oklahoma, and 24th ranked Texas A&M which will provide a ton of chances to move up in the Polls.

A win next week could vault LSU up the boards again

Next weekend, the LSU Football team will host the South Alabama Jaguars on Saturday night as the Jaguars have been impressive over the past two weeks. The win won't do too much for LSU's ranking but, they could rise as a result of losses elsewhere. Alabama will host Georgia in a top 5 matchup and if one team loses badly they could slide below LSU. Notre Dame and Louisville are nipping at LSU's heels and one of those teams will lose when they face each other. Penn State will host an impressive Illinois team that could easily pull off the massive upset. Finally, Utah has to face an Arizona team that can score in bunches and they may have to do it without Cam RIsing.
