Malik Nabers looking dominant in Day Two of New York Giants Training Camp
It was a quite Day One of New York Giants training camp for Malik Nabers as the rain in East Rutherford dampered the Giants passing attack. This was no concern to the New York Giants though as the team and the fanbase is ecstatic about landing Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick.
The second day of training camp gave Giants fans a glimpse of the dominant receiver we all grew to love in his time at LSU. In red zone drills, Nabers beat former first round pick Deonte Banks on a back shoulder fade making a spectacular catch getting both feet in bounds.
In 11 on 11, Malik Nabers found the endzone again beating second year cornerback Tre Hawkins with an incredible route before breaking out a patented celebration.
The Giants under Brian Daboll are seemingly taking some ideas from Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel's playbook. In both practices, the Giants have used Nabers in pre-snap motion which should allow him to create a ton of separation leading to big plays.
The team will certainly do everything they can to get Malik Nabers the football if training camp is any indication of the team's plan. The Giants used Nabers a ton on jet sweeps and reverses even in the endzone which the team will likely deploy a ton as an extension of the run game after the team lost Saquon Barkley.
The Malik Nabers buzz grows every day
The biggest story in this rookie class hasn't been any of the rookie quarterbacks but, its been about how impressive Malik Nabers looks. Between Nabers ability and the Giants lack of a star receiver it's easy to imagine that Nabers will cross the 1,000 yard mark as a Rookie and could contend for Rookie of the Year. The LSU Tigers have put several star receivers into the NFL in the past few years and its certainly possible that Nabers ends up right along Odell Beckham Jr in terms of star power.
