It's a tale as old of time, in order to win especially in a conference as strong as the SEC, you need to have elite talent. There have been several coaches that aren't exactly tactical geniuses that have won National Championships as they've simply recruited elite class after elite class. The SEC talent class is so strong for coaches to recruit from however, every coach isn't taking advantage of it. Here are the three biggest winners and losers thus far on the recruiting trail in the SEC.

Winner - Brian Kelly

While Brian Kelly only holds commitments from 12 commitments, the level of players he's landed is impressive. Kelly holds commitments from the Nation's top quarterback, running back, and interior offensive lineman with six top-100 commitments according to On3. Where Kelly ends up finishing relies upon how LSU builds out this class on the defensive side of the football and at wide receiver but, early on this class is impressive.

Loser - Lane Kiffin

This season, Ole Miss enters the season with serious buzz as a National Title contender which should be a massive recruiting pitch however, the results on the recruiting trail aren't showing it. The Rebels hold the Nation's 37th ranked recruiting class while ranking 12th in the SEC with just nine commitments three of which are four-stars. Kiffin has also lost four of his top recruits as Akylin Dear, Corey Amos, Dillon Alfred, and Jerome Myles decommitted. Kiffin has shown an ability to build via the transfer portal but, at some point he'll need to start recruiting at a higher level.
