The bye week will be massive for the health of the LSU Wide Receiver room
The LSU Football team has a bye week landing at the perfect time for this team before the start of a grueling SEC stretch. The Tigers have been banged up and have had some players that have stepped into new roles dealing with injuries. The Tigers have lost Harold Perkins, John Emery, and Jacobian Guillory to season ending injuries while new starters Caden Durham and other have been dealing with injuries.
One of the latest injuries we learned about from Brian Kelly's press conference was to Liberty transfer Wide Receiver CJ Daniels.
"He had aggravated a knee, had an old knee injury but we got good reports on it so. We were concerned because he had an ACL but it was not an ACL. Those are things at first you're concerned but it turned out to be the best case scenario for us"
- Brian Kelly
This is positive news for the LSU Football team as we've continued to see flashes of Daniels' ability as he continues to gain experience in this offense.
Another player that the added week off provides LSU a better chance at getting back onto the field is receiver Chris Hilton Jr. We haven't seen Chris Hilton Jr yet as he's seemingly dealing with more than just bone bruises as it was initially stated. The past few weeks, it has seemed that Hilton has been a game-time decision but, LSU is likely holding him out until he's 100%.
Brian Kelly confirmed that LSU is waiting for Hilton to return at 100% in his post-game press conference:
"We could’ve had him out there tonight. But we want him at 100%."
- Brian Kelly
Getting a player like Hilton back when LSU faces off against Ole Miss would give this team a massive boost. Hilton is far and away the fastest player on the team and his ability to stretch a defense will open up a ton for the Tigers underneath for receivers like Daniels, Lacy, and Anderson.
The offense will need to be firing on all cylinders in SEC Play
When you look at what Ole Miss has done in games this season, what Alabama did on Saturday, and what other SEC teams have done offensively, you start to realize that the defense may have issues. If LSU is going to beat some of these SEC teams, they'll need to score at least 30 points in most of these matchups. Getting players like Daniels and Chris Hilton going will only give LSU more firepower which will only make guarding LSU harder.
