The LSU Tigers dominate Week Three of the NFL Season
Week Three of the NFL Season is officially in the books as the week was capped off with an LSU showdown between Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase. LSU has had some solid showings in the first two weeks but, week three was truly a week of LSU dominance.
Malik Nabers continues to go from a really good rookie to a star in the making for the New York Giants. This weekend, Nabers found the endzone twice entering into a tie with Justin Jefferson and six other players for the most touchdowns in the NFL. Through three weeks, Nabers is off to a historic pace to start his career.
Speaking of Justin Jefferson, the NFL's best receiver continues to prove why he's the best receiver in the NFL. This weekend, Jefferson caught six passes for 81 yards and a touchdown which could've been much more if Sam Darnold wasn't injured and if the Vikings didn't dominate the game from start to finish.
Entering the season, we talked about the fact that Tyrann Mathieu is likely one Pro Bowl or All-Pro season away from being a potential Hall of Famer. Through three weeks, Mathieu is having an incredible season intercepting a pass this weekend to give him his third takeaway on the season while adding another seven tackles.
Patrick Queen, Donte Jackson, and the Steelers' defense are the reason that Pittsburgh remains undefeated. The LSU duo led the team in tackles as Queen racked up eight tackles while Jackson finished with five tackles. On the other side of the matchup, Kristian Fulton added seven tackles in a losing effort.
In a losing effort, Brian Thomas Jr was one of the lone bright spots for the Jacksonville Jaguars catching five passes for 48 yards.
The biggest storyline on Monday Night Football however was the matchup of Heisman Trophy winners Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels. Joe Burrow opened the game up delivering a perfect pass to Ja'Marr Chase for a 41 yard touchdown.
Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase were electric as the Bengals didn't punt or turn the ball over once. Burrow finished 29 of 38 with 324 yards and three touchdowns while Chase caught six passes for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The issue for the Bengals was that Jayden Daniels and the Commanders didn't punt either as Daniels was electric all night. Daniels finished the game with more touchdowns (3) than incompletions (2) and some of the throws he made were incredible.
If after during the years of the LSU Football team being a quarterback away, you said that in a few years LSU would have two Heisman winning quarterbacks facing off on Monday Night Football in a game where neither team punted or turned the ball over, I would've called you insane.
