Lane Kiffin is wasting no time hitting the ground running in Baton Rouge. Kiffin landed in Baton Rouge on Sunday evening, and less than an hour later he was meeting with LSU's most prized commit.

5-star LSU commit Lamar Brown is the No. 1 prospect in the country for the 2026 recruiting class. He committed to LSU back on July 10, and headlines a Tiger recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 12 in the country according to 247Sports.

As LSU searched for a new head coach, Tiger fans knew that keeping Brown on board would be the No. 1 prioroty for whoever took over the program. Now that he has been officially hired by LSU, Kiffin wasted no time meeting with Brown.

Kiffin and Brown met on Sunday night shortly after Kiffin arrived in Baton Rouge. Brown hails from just down the road at University Lab in Baton Rouge, so his close proximity certainly helped the meeting happen from a logistical perspective.

Shortly after Kiffin was announced as LSU's next head coach, Brown expressed his excitement. "It's great to know that I’ll have a coach who’s ready to compete for a national championship and wants to bring one back to Baton Rouge," Brown told Rivals.

Despite his commitment to LSU, both Texas A&M and Miami (FL) were "pushing hard" in an effort to flip Brown over the last several weeks. Brown was in attendance for LSU's embarrassing 49-25 loss to the Aggies back on October 25, and A&M fans began chanting "We want Lamar" as LSU fans headed for the exits. Brian Kelly was fired one day later, and Tiger fans became anxious wondering if Brown would stay committed to LSU.

But Brown has repeatedly expressed his love for LSU and desire to play for the Tigers since Kelly's firing. Kiffin isn't taking any chances, though, and meeting with him to make sure he is still locked in to LSU is a smart move by LSU's new coach. Seeing a hometown product of such elite talent flip away from LSU would be devastating for Kiffin and the Tigers.
