The 11th-ranked LSU Tigers picked up a 20-10 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. The running game put together its best outing of the season, totaling a season-high 166 yards and 5.5 yards per carry. Trey'Dez Green led the way in the passing attack, racking up 119 yards and a touchdown on eight catches. Kyle Parker also stepped up in a big way in the absence of Aaron Anderson.

It wasn't a perfect game by any means, as LSU had some ugly plays and multiple turnovers in the red zone. But one thing is for sure: The LSU Tigers continue to dominate the South Carolina Gamecocks.

LSU continues historical dominance over South Carolina

The LSU vs South Carolina rivalry has been a lop-sided one. LSU has dominated the all-time series in overwhelming fashion, and thanks to their win on Saturday night, the Tigers are now 21-2-1 in the all-time series against the Gamecocks.

After defeating South Carolina 36-33 in Columbia last season, LSU's 20-10 victory in this year's matchup gives LSU a nine-game winning steak in the series. The teams played to a 20-20 tie in 1995, and South Carolina's last win against LSU came by a score of 18-17 in 1994.

South Carolina won the very first matchup between the teams way back in 1930, but that success didn't last. The Tigers quickly rebounded to win 12 straight matchups against the Gamecocks from 1931 to 1987. LSU's largest margin of victory in the series came in the form of a 42-0 win in Columbia in 1961.

Saturday's game was an important one for both teams, as both LSU and South Carolina have daunting schedules the rest of the way. The Tigers got the win to improve their all-time record against the Gamecocks, while also moving to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in SEC play this season. South Carolina falls to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in SEC play. Next week, LSU heads to Nashville to face No. 20 Vanderbilt while South Carolina hosts No. 6 Oklahoma.
