It's still a bit of a shock for many, but Will Wade has returned home to LSU and Baton Rouge. After spending last season with NC State, Wade indeed was offered the job back at LSU, which he had no choice but to accept. Talk about drama.
Why Lane Kiffin's latest 5-star commit is even bigger news for Will Wade
Well, Wade has hit the ground running in trying to build out his new roster, with international targets high on his list moving forward. What made the decision for him to return so easy? While Wade spoke glowingly about NC State with Jon Rothstein, he also made it clear that the resources he has with LSU now that he's back in the SEC is going to help him reach goals that maybe wouldn't have been attainable with the Wolfpack:

The resources at LSU helped Will Wade make his decision to leave NC State
"It was tough to leave there, but I think that at LSU with the SEC, we just have more resources," Wade said. "The saying, 'The SEC, it just means more' it's true. It's 100 percent the truth. We've got tremendous resources down here just because of the revenue that's generated through our basketball and football contracts. I think we have the ability to compete with the best in the SEC and when you compete with the best in the SEC, you have the opportunity to compete nationally."
That was a mic drop and a half from Wade, who clearly is thrilled to be in the conference. Back in March of 2022, Wade was fired by the Tigers after a major NCAA case. He then took over at McNeese before his lone campaign in the ACC with NC State.
As soon as the LSU job opened up again, rumors were flying that an aggressive pitch would be made to bring back Wade. At first, it seemed silly, but then once it got done, people were in disbelief - some fans still can't believe things went down this way.
Despite that, Wade indeed has taken over the program once again and he's going to want to help LSU get back to a top level. Thus far, Wade made quite the splash in landing Kentucky transfer commit Mouhamed Dioubate, but the work isn't close to being over. Wade is going to keep going after top targets, as fans are waiting for big news to come in soon. With those resources Wade mentioned, it's surely going to make his job much easier to do so.
