Shaq lowers the boom on Scottie Pippen in Instagram feud

facebooktwitterreddit

Shaq posted an image claiming the Lakers to have better all-time talent than the Bulls, which Scottie Pippen did not take kindly to. An Instagram war ensued, with the former LSU star coming out on top.

A war of words, and images, broke out between two all-time NBA greats on Monday.

It all started with this seemingly harmless Instagram post that Shaquille O’Neal posted to his Instagram.

"We would beat em by fifty “what you think”. Let me know and don’t hold back"

The Los Angeles Lakers legend does have a point. As great as the Chicago Bulls have been over the course of history, it would be tough to imagine them taking down an all-time Lakers squad featuring Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor, Shaq and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Even with Michael Jordan leading the charge for the Bulls. Scottie Pippen, however, took exception to this notion. The Bulls small forward would then post an image of him and Jordan celebrating one of their six NBA titles together.

"Sorry @shaq but I don’t get caught up in hypotheticals. All I know is we won 6 titles, twice the amount you claimed while in LA…"

A very true statement indeed. Knowing Shaq, though, there was no way that he would let Pippen take a shot like that without retaliation. The LSU great would respond by putting his photoshop skills to good use.

"Sorry @scottiepippen I don’t believe in hypotheticals either, but I seen most of those final you did ok , but this guy did most the work . #youwereok steve kerr and Ron harper deserve more credit than you , remember I WAS BATMAN YOU WAS ROBIN , I was PUFFY YOU WAS MASE…"

While nearly everyone would disagree that Steve Kerr or Ron Harper deserved more credit for those title runs than Pippen, the “I was Batman you was Robin, I was Puffy you was Mase” line was a classic. Pippen would respond by taking a shot at Shaq’s horrific free-throw shooting numbers.

"Easy big fella… if only you were as good at free throws as you are talking smack! @shaq"

Well played. Shaq would win the petty feud, however, with this bomb that he posted just over an hour before.

"Anybody need a T MOBILE SIDEKICK. I GOTTa PRETTY GOOD ONE #BESTSIDEKICKEVER"

Ouch.

Judging by Monday’s results, it is safe to say that Shaq has exerted his dominance in the social media game over Pippen, in addition to his status as one of the most overpowering players of all-time.

Shaq gets paid millions to display his humorous personality on TNT’s Inside the NBA, and although Pippen was a tremendous NBA player during his day, this was a battle that he lost before it even got started.
