Lamar Louis

Lamar Louis is certainly the most well-known player on this list. Regardless, it still feels like his name has been lost in the shuffle during the offseason.

With fellow linebacker Kendell Beckwith stealing most of the headlines regarding the unit, it has been easy to forget about the senior linebacker that provides one of the strongest veteran presences on the LSU football team. The Tigers are going to be leaning heavily on Louis in 2015, however, and not just for his veteran leadership.

He is expected to contribute at both inside and outside linebacker, and has been working at both spots throughout the offseason. This versatility will be a major asset for an LSU defense that outside of Louis and Beckwith, has some serious questions surrounding the linebacker position. There is still no concrete answer regarding who will be starting opposite of Louis at outside linebacker, and even if that changes, the Tigers will still remain very thin at the position.

Louis has appeared in 36 games throughout his LSU career, starting 15 of them. This experience, combined with the benefit of learning under linebacker specialist Kevin Steele this offseason, has him primed to emerge as a potential star of the defense.
