Preview, live stream, TV channel and more for the LSU basketball team’s Tuesday night showdown with the Kentucky Wildcats.

The LSU basketball team will arrive at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday night with a golden opportunity to flip the script on their 2015-2016 season.

The Tigers (8-5) play host to the No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats (11-2), in a game that could play a major role in whether or not they finish the season with an NCAA Tournament bid.

LSU severely hurt its chances of making a return to March Madness after going 7-5 in its non-conference schedule. The Bayou Bengals took a step in the right direction on Saturday, though, opening SEC play with a 90-82 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Upsetting the Wildcats will be a much more difficult task, with Kentucky entering the game as a five-point favorite.

The Tigers are embracing their underdog role, while not allowing the magnitude of the game to overwhelm them.

"“Of course we have an edge about ourselves going into that game, but it’s just another game,” sophomore forward Craig Victor told NOLA.com. “We don’t wanna look too far into it, because it is hyped up, and it is everything everybody says it is, so we don’t wanna get too overwhelmed, but it’s gonna be a game.“It’s OK, people saying you’re underdogs. It’s OK to be the underdogs. The underdog can come out on top. It’s about being the best team that night — not necessarily down the line. Whoever the best team that night is will win, no matter the rankings or no matter who has the most talent, whoever the better team is that night will stand out and win.”"

The addition of Victor and senior guard Keith Hornsby to the starting lineup has been huge for the Tigers. Victor is averaging 13.4 points and five rebounds per game, while Hornsby is averaging 17.5 points per game and shooting 45.2 percent from behind the 3-point line. Most importantly, LSU is 4-1 in the five games that the duo has appeared.

The Tigers also have a legitimate Wooden Award candidate in freshman forward Ben Simmons, who is making a serious case to be named the best player in college basketball this season. Simmons currently ranks second in the nation in rebounds per game (13.1) and sixth in double-doubles (10), while averaging 20.5 points per game on an impressive 57.4 percent shooting.

And while the Wildcats enter Tuesday night as the clearcut favorite, they are not sleeping on the Tigers whatsoever, particularly in regards to Simmons.

"“If you guard him with a big, he has the ability to play like a point guard. If you put a smaller player on him, he has the ability to play like a big,” Kentucky assistant coach Kenny Payne told The Courier-Journal. “He’ll play great against us. I’m sure he’ll be excited. He’s an excellent rebounder. He’s a challenge.”"

Kentucky will likely use some combination of Alex Poythress, Isaiah Briscoe and Marcus Lee in an attempt to slow down Simmons. The Wildcats are led on offense by a pair of talented guards in freshman Jamal Murray and sophomore Tyler Ulis, who are averaging 16.8 and 13.4 points per game, respectively.

Tuesday’s game will be televised on ESPN, with tipoff scheduled for 8:00 p.m. CT. Live streaming will be available via Watch ESPN.
