5) Texas A&M

More from Death Valley Voice

Following a 10-game winning streak earlier in the season, the Texas A&M Aggies climbed as high as No. 5 in the polls. Since then, however, the Aggies have lost five of their past six games and are in an absolute free-fall.

Texas A&M is no longer ranked, and if its collapse continues throughout the final weeks of the regular season, missing the Big Dance altogether is a realistic possibility.

Regardless of this midseason meltdown, the Aggies are still capable of contending with NCAA Tournament-caliber teams, something they displayed during a victory over No. 14 Iowa State last month.

Tyler Davis has the ability to take over a game in the post, with his 6-foot-10, 265-pound frame providing serious issues for smaller teams. Small forward Jalen Jones is one of the most versatile players in the conference. And point guard Alex Caruso is a senior leader that has shown an uncanny talent for shifting momentum with his ability to force turnovers on the defensive end and turn it into points with his superb court vision.

But unless the Texas A&M team that emerged as a surprise contender early in the season returns, the Aggies will not stand a chance at the NCAA Tournament. If they make it that far.
