In a move no one saw coming, LSU's top recruit in the 2026 remains unsigned. The Early Signing Period started on Wednesday, and 5-star DL prospect Lamar Brown has yet to officially put pen to paper and sign with the Tigers.
Lane Kiffin and LSU are in serious danger of losing a 4-star commit
Brown committed to LSU back on July 10, and he headlines LSU's 2026 recruiting class as the No. 1 prospect in the country according to 247Sports.
LSU fans are nervous as Lamar Brown remains unsigned
Lane Kiffin met with Brown shortly after arriving in Baton Rouge last weekend. The meeting seems to have gone well, with Brown expressing excitement over Kiffin's hiring. "It's great to know that I’ll have a coach who’s ready to compete for a national championship and wants to bring one back to Baton Rouge," Brown told Rivals.
However, it was reported earlier this week that Brown would not be signing with the Tigers on Wednesday when the Early Signing Period began. The move caught fans off guard, as his quote immediately following his meeting with Kiffin had fans fired up. Furthermore, Brown is a hometown product hailing for University Lab in Baton Rouge, and has expressed his steadfast love for LSU on social media repeatedly over the past few months.
Despite not signing yet, Brown's agent stated that Brown is still "committed" to LSU at this time. But that isn't going to make Tiger fans relax. Brown was in attendance for LSU's embarrassing 49-25 loss to the Aggies back on October 25, and A&M fans began chanting "We want Lamar" as LSU fans headed for the exits. Brian Kelly was fired one day later, and Tiger fans became anxious wondering if Brown would stay committed to LSU. A chaotic month followed, and the dramatic changes in Baton Rouge could have Brown second guessing his choice.
Texas A&M and Miami (FL) have been "pushing hard" in an effort to flip Brown over the last month. The Early Signing Period is open until Friday, so if Brown doesn't sign by then he will have to wait until February. Tiger fans are hoping it doesn't come to that.
