Looking at Month of August for the LSU Football program on the recruiting trail
The LSU Football team is on fire in both the 2025 and 2026 recruiting cycles holding the third ranked class in 2025 and the 9th ranked recruiting class in 2026. The Tigers climbed the recruiting rankings with a massive July and the month of August could see the Tigers soar to the top ranking especially in 2025.
The month of pursuit will begin with five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett who will commit on August 7th. At one point in time, it felt like LSU was leading for Lockett however this may be between the in-state Texas Longhorns and Alabama at this point. The Tigers do have a massive pull as Kaliq Lockett played on the Fleaux 7 on 7 team with Bryce Underwood, Harlem Berry, and several other LSU commits while Underwood and Damien Shanklin continue to push for Lockett.
On August 8th, the LSU Football team will be one of the four teams in contention for four-star safety CJ Jimcoily. The Tigers are up against Auburn, Tennessee, and Stanford in a battle that for awhile was between LSU and Stanford. Getting Jimcoily on board would be massive for LSU as they'd have the safety pairing in this class locked down as Jimcoily would slot in alongside Jhase Thomas.
If LSU misses out on CJ Jimcoily, they'll have another shot at a four-star safety with Bryce Fitzgerald on August 17th. The name Bryce Fitzgerald will be a new name even for fans who follow LSU Football recruiting closely. The LSU Football team has made a late surge as Bryce Fitzgerald said the Tigers are on of his top two schools. The Tigers will need to beat out Florida State for the Nation's 8th-ranked safety according to On3.
The end of the month is where LSU will look to make the biggest splash starting with five-star safety Jonah Williams. The two-sport star has been the talk of the Summer as LSU looks to beat out Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M for the Nation's 10th-ranked recruit. LSU had picked up a crystal ball for Williams earlier in the Summer but, he missed his visit to Bayou Splash hurting LSU's chances.
The biggest target out there for the LSU Tigers may be five-star receiver Jaime Ffrench. This has been a long and eventful recruitment as Alabama once held a commitment and since that point its felt like Ohio State, Texas, Florida State, Miami, and LSU have all led at one point. The Tigers got one last visit with Ffrench for Bayou Splash and as we approach the August 30th commitment date this feels like a race between Texas, LSU, and Miami.
Leaving August with two commitments would be a massive win for LSU
The LSU Tigers are up for five recruits with scheduled commitments while they could see some flips this month as well. Landing either of the five-star receivers and one of the safeties would be a massive win for the LSU Football team. Landing one of the five-star receivers would give LSU a fourth five-star recruit tying Alabama for the most. The Tigers have a chance to leave this month with only one true need on the trail at wide receiver.
