The Latest LSU Football Recruiting Storylines from On3 Elite Series
This weekend marks one of the biggest recruiting weekends both Nationally and for the LSU Tigers. A vast majority of the nation's top players have started the week in Nashville for the On3 Elite Series where the players are continuing to build relationships while trying to recruit other elite talents to join them. The Tigers will then host 15 of the Nation's best recruits on official visits from Friday to Sunday. Here are the top storylines coming out of the On3 Elite Series for the LSU Tigers:
Bryce Underwood and Harlem Berry Locked in with LSU
After losing Dakorien Moore, the LSU Football team still has two star talents committed in Bryce Underwood and Harlem Berry. Bryce Underwood, the Nation's top prospect showed up with not one but two LSU hats as well as sporting an impressive LSU chain.
When talking with On3's Chad Simmons Bryce Underwood joked that he wanted to give a few LSU chains to five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench and Five-Star defensive back DJ Pickett. Underwood continues to state that he's not looking at or talking to any other schools and that he's fully committed to Brian Kelly and his staff.
Harlem Berry was in attendance as well as the Nation's highest-ranked running back recruit. Berry was also sporting an LSU hat and when asked if he was fully committed to LSU he said the following:
"If I could sign tomorrow I would"
- Harlem Berry
Dakorien Moore adds LSU back onto his official visit list
About two weeks ago, LSU lost its commitment from the Nation's top receiver Dakorien Moore as Moore decided to re-open his recruitment. After de-commiting Moore locked in official visits with Texas, Ohio State, and Oregon. Now, Moore has decided to add LSU back to his official visit list however, it seems likely that Moore will head to Texas. LSU will continue it's push for Moore as pairing him with Bryce Underwood and Harlem Berry would be ideal but, the team also feels great about several other targets.
LSU in the top three for top defensive back DJ Pickett
The LSU Football program will host some of the Nation's top recruits this weekend but, none may be more important than DJ Pickett. On3 ranks DJ Pickett as the Nation's sixth-best player overall and as the second-ranked cornerback. The Tigers have gotten into the race thanks to the connection Corey Raymond built with Pickett while at Florida. LSU has broken through into Pickett's top five after being outside of it in December and now the list has seemingly shrunk to LSU, Oregon, and Miami. Landing Pickett would give this class a massive piece on the defensive end in this recruiting class to pair with the offensive haul.
Jonah Williams puts LSU in his top three and plans to play baseball
The LSU Football team is looking to rebuild its DBU identity and one of the players Corey Raymond has identified is Jonah Williams. The Texas native is the number one safety recruit in the recruiting class, and the 11th-ranked player in the country. The LSU Football team will certainly want Williams however, the LSU Baseball team may want Williams as well. Williams is also one of the Nation's top baseball recruits and plans to weigh potential landing spots half on football and half on baseball. This should put LSU at or near the top of Williams' list as LSU will field National Championship level teams in bot
Top Uncommitted in-state recruit set to commit
Brian Kelly and his staff have been dominant at keeping in-state talent at home thus far landing commitments from seven of the top ten players in the state. The LSU Tigers will have a chance to land the fourth-ranked player in the state today as James Simon is set to commit. The Calvary Baptist star has a final five of LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Notre Dame. Before the LSU football team landed JT Lindsey it seemed likely that Simon would stay home however, it now appears that Simon is most likely to end up at Texas. If LSU lands Simon they'd have a three-headed monster at running back in this class with Harlem Berry, Lindsey, and Simon.
