Top 2026 Recruit could help LSU's 2025 recruiting class reach the top ranking
The LSU Tigers hold the Nation's third-ranked recruiting class after landing elite five-star cornerback DJ Pickett and top-50 recruit wide receiver Derek Meadows this week. When looking at LSU's haul on the recruiting trail the top-end talent jumps off the page with according to On3 the Nation's top overall recruit Bryce Underwood, the nation's top defensive recruit DJ Pickett, the nation's top running back Harlem Berry, and ten of the Nation's top 120 recruits.
The LSU Tigers continue to be a contender for elite talents like five-star safety Jonah Williams, Kaliq Lockett, and Jaime Ffrench but, the Tigers may be eyeing a different five-star to polish off a massive recruiting class.
On3's Steve Wiltfong mentioned when talking about LSU's 2025 recruiting class that St Augustine star Jahkeem Stewart may end up reclassifying and joining the 2025 recruiting class. In the 2026 recruiting rankings, Stewart is On3's top overall recruit with the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine giving LSU a 90.9% chance of landing Stewart.
As long as Stewart remains a five-star recruit, LSU landing him would give LSU their fourth five-star commitment tying Alabama for the most five stars in this class. Regardless of which class Stewart ends up in, this is a player that Bo Davis can't miss on.
The biggest rivals to LSU in this recruitment are seemingly Ohio State and Southern California but, the entire country is seemingly pushing for the Louisiana Native. Getting Stewart on campus with this recruiting class would be massive as LSU feels great about young defensive linemen Gabe Reliford, Dominick McKinley, Damien Shanklin, Zion Williams, Brandon Brown, and a few others especially with Bo Davis' developing the group.
New defensive staff proving their worth
Thus far, the new defensive coaching staff has been incredible on the recruiting trail bringing in some incredible players. Each has brought in elite talents with Corey Raymond landing DJ Pickett, Blake Baker landing Charles Ross, and Bo Davis landing Zion Williams. The defensive staff has brought a breath of fresh air on the recruiting trail and if they can hold up their end of the bargain in player development, Brian Kelly's team may be ready to compete for a National Championship.
