Brian Kelly shares his thoughts after LSU embarrasses itself against Alabama
On a Night where LSU could've found its path to the College Football Playoff and excited the 300 recruits in attendance the LSU Football team instead fell flat on its face. The game was embarrassing as the Tigers looked like they didn't belong on the field with Alabama and the season now lacks a true purpose over these final few games. After the game, Brian Kelly shared his thoughts on his team's performance.
Brian Kelly shared his thoughts on how everyone thought this could be an exciting day for the school and instead it became a massive night for the Alabama Football team.
"What we thought would be an exciting evening turned out to be a disappointing evening. I take ownership in not getting our guys in the right position tonight. We did not make the best of the opportunities we had."
- Brian Kelly
During the game, you likely had the thought, what did this team work on during the bye week and if it makes you feel any better, Brian Kelly knows you had that thought.
"If you're watching the game, you're like 'what have these guys been doing for two weeks?"
- Brian Kelly
Jalen Milroe for the second straight year ran for four touchdowns on the LSU defense and once again, LSU allegedly had a plan to stop it which clearly did not work.
"We have a scheme to stop the quarterback. We did not get it done. "
- Brian Kelly
Brian Kelly shared his thoughts and what the bottom line was and to be honest what else can you expect him to say and who else deserves the blame.
"The bottom line is we didn’t play to the standard of LSU Football. That’s on me."
- Brian Kelly
Brian Kelly was asked about the moments where fans launched their bottles onto the field and his thoughts on it. He did say he didn't advocate for fans throwing their bottles but, he did understand.
"Look, if I was in the stands, I wouldn’t be happy."
- Brian Kelly
The rest of the season is without a meaning
This year was a year where LSU could've and should've made the College Football Playoff as it expanded to 12 teams. Instead, LSU is now playing to once again play in a meaningless Bowl Game while four or five SEC Schools will make the College Football Playoff. It should sting for the team and for the fans as the program is in a weird place where Brian Kelly doesn't feel like the guy for the job yet, the Tigers will owe him nearly $70 million if he's fired after the season so he's as safe as can be.
