The LSU Football team had an active signing day signing nearly every commit aside from Mike Tyler while flipping Solomon Thomas. The Tigers were only waiting on the news of whether or not Derek Meadows was going to stick with LSU or flip.

The latest to fall victim to a flip late in the recruiting cycle is LSU as Four-Star Wide Receiver Derek Meadows flips his commitment from LSU to Alabama.

LSU originally landed Meadows over Notre Dame, Alabama, and Georgia back in July and held his commitment until just now. Meadows becomes the second high profile Wide Receiver LSU has lost this cycle joining Dakorien Moore who decommitted and chose Oregon.

The writing was on the wall that LSU may lose WR Derek Meadows when he took visits to Michigan and Notre Dame before visiting LSU this season especially as nearly the entire LSU class was on campus for the Alabama game and down the stretch for the games against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. The loss of Bryce Underwood was likely the final nail in the coffin as the loss of the top quarterback in the country was a big blow.

Losing Meadows deals a blow to this recruiting class as LSU has just two wide receivers committed in Edna Karr's Taron Francis and Destrehan's Phillip Wright. Meadows was the highest ranked receiver of LSU's trio ranked by On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings as the 80th ranked player in the class, the 11th ranked wide receiver, and the 2nd best player out of Nevada.

The timing this all took place in was less than ideal as LSU was left with little to no time to replace Derek Meadows as all of the top receivers in this cycle were already committed to other schools.

LSU will be an appealing transfer destination

The Tigers will most likely pursue a top end wide receiver in the transfer portal this offseason to replace Kyren Lacy's production and reserve receiver Landon Ibieta. Given that LSU has had more success than anyone as of late developing wide receivers, the Tigers will likely have their pick at some of the top wide receivers in the country. Some of the early names that stand out are Micah Hudson, Johntay Cook, and Kevin Concepcion.
