This week was a hectic week for the LSU Basketball program as it felt like the first week where LSU was truly involved in the transfer portal chaos. The Tigers landed five transfers this week while Daimion Collins left continuing the roster shakeup. LSU also hosted several transfers who are yet to commit which will carry into this week as LSU looks to set its roster. After a hectic week for the LSU Basketball team, here is some of the latest news around the program.

Vyctorius Miller transfer to Oklahoma State

When LSU lost Vyctorius Miller to the transfer portal, it was a disappointing season as he had a promising freshman season. The Freshman showed a ton of promise in the Non-Conference portion of the year, but injuries slowed his development during SEC play. When it was revealed that schools like Kentucky, Tennessee, Houston, and Michigan State were in contact with Miller, it appeared he was heading to one of the top teams in College Basketball. On Sunday Night, Miller committed to Oklahoma State, which is a bit surprising given the level of teams that showed interest.

Corey Chest sticks around in the SEC

The LSU Basketball team lost Corey Chest to the transfer portal which wasn't a massive shocker but, it was disappointing as he started to show promise. If you're looking to follow Corey Chest's career it won't be hard as he'll stick around in the SEC signing with the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels get a high energy forward who will clean the glass for them and if they can develop his offensive or defensive game he'll be a solid player for Chris Beard.

LSU cracks the Top 5 for elite shooting guard JJ Andrews

As LSU has started to pour resources into the program on the NIL front, LSU will also start to push harder for high end High School recruits. This weekend, Top-30 guard JJ Andrews named LSU one of his five finalists. Andrews is an exciting recruit as he has size and length along with the ability to score at all three levels which would make him a massive addition if LSU can win out in this recruitment. Andrews will announce his commitment on May 15th which gives LSU fans an exciting story to follow.

What needs are left for LSU in the Transfer Portal?

Last week was incredibly exciting for LSU Basketball fans as the Tigers brought in five transfers, headlined by Dedan Thomas Jr a Top 10 player in the transfer portal and Marquel Sutton, who's a dominant scorer inside. As LSU has added a player at each position, the question is what needs still stand out for LSU?

While Dedan Thomas Jr will run the starting five, LSU may want more of a threat running the second unit than Curtis Givens. The Tigers added two players that can play shooting guard or small forward but, ideally LSU needs to add one more player that can knock down three point shots after a year where LSU was horrible from three. The Tigers are likely set at forward but, is a true center that can impact the game at a high level comes available, LSU should jump on that chance.
